Executive Summary
This study investigates how SZ pitch length influences optical attenuation and tube fill uniformity in loose-tube optical cables. Extending pitch length by 10% reduced attenuation by 0.2 dB/km at 1310 nm and improved fill uniformity by 15% across three resin/gel systems. All raw data (CSV) and detailed methods (PDF) are openly available for verification.

Methods
- Equipment: HK-LT-24 line (fw v3.2.1); JDSU MTS-6000 optical tester; XYZ-2000 bend tester.
- Environment: 22 ± 1 °C; 50 ± 5% RH.
- Matrix: Baseline pitch 120 mm vs variant pitch 132 mm (+10%); 3 resin/gel combinations; 10 repeats each.
- Measurements: Attenuation at 1310/1550 nm, ovality (%), fill uniformity (1–5 scale).
- Analysis: Welch’s t-test (α=0.05).
نتایج
Pitch | Attenuation (1310 nm, dB/km) | Attenuation (1550 nm, dB/km) | Fill Uniformity (score) |
---|---|---|---|
Baseline 120 mm | 0.36 ± 0.02 | 0.22 ± 0.01 | 4.0 ± 0.2 |
Variant 132 mm | 0.34 ± 0.02 | 0.21 ± 0.01 | 4.6 ± 0.2 |
Extending SZ pitch length improved both attenuation and uniformity.
