What’s Cable Sheathing Line?
Cable Sheathing Line is an automated production line that covers the bare wire with a protective layer of insulation, usually made of plastic or rubber. It is designed to protect cables from abrasion, moisture, and other external factors that could cause damage. The sheathing is applied in a continuous process, which helps speed up production times for manufacturing different types of cables. Cable Sheathing Lines are used in a variety of industries, such as automotive wiring, power cable production, and electrical equipment manufacturing.
Overview of the Whole line:
- Pay-off rack: Provides tension control and prevents the tangling of incoming wire.
- Preheater: Heats the cable before it enters the extrusion process, ensuring consistent extrusion.
- Extruder: Melts and mixes the plastic material, then apply it to the cable.
- Crosshead: Shapes the extruded material around the cable.
- Cooling trough: Cools the newly coated cable.
- Diameter gauge: Measures the diameter of the cable to ensure consistency.
- Capstan: Pulls the cable through the line at a constant speed.
- Accumulator: Stores the cable temporarily to allow for changes in downstream processes.
- Spark tester: Detects any faults in the cable’s insulation.
- Take-up machine: Collects the finished cable on a spool or reel.
