What is a building wire production line? It turns prepared solid or stranded conductors into insulated building wire. Form strands first when needed, then extrude the insulation, cool and dry the wire, inspect it and wind or coil it to the agreed format.

Strand count is not the number of insulated cable cores. Specify the conductor as n × d mm: n is the number of individual wires and d is each wire’s diameter. Also confirm the finished bare-conductor diameter and nominal cross-section. Form the strands before insulation, or start with an approved ready-stranded conductor.
03 Preliminary process route

Match the Route to the Conductor Construction

This route illustrates single-core, thermoplastic-insulated building wire. Start with the actual incoming conductor: individual wires need forming; prepared solid or ready-stranded conductors enter the insulation extrusion stage.

Prepare component wires as required → Bunch / strand → Insulate → Cool / dry → Inspect → Take up Coiling and packing follow the sales format. Drawing and annealing are not repeated if the supplied wire already meets the approved inputs.
Typical process / not a fixed layout

Read the order, not a fixed machine spacing: conductor forming precedes insulation. Spark testing follows surface drying. A diameter gauge may be used before and/or after cooling; the capstan may sit within the cooling system. Marking, striping, preheating and accumulators are added where the cable and line design require them.

Form the specified number of individual wires into one bare conductor using the approved bunching or stranding method. This is conductor forming, not the cabling of separately insulated cores. Skip this operation if a suitable ready-stranded conductor is purchased.

Clarify the Route Before Requesting a Quote

These answers explain the decision path. They do not replace an approved cable design, technical solution, quotation or project proposal.

What equipment is included in the preliminary Building Wire route?

A typical insulation route uses an extruder and crosshead, cooling and surface drying, diameter measurement, spark testing, capstan/haul-off and take-up. Bunching or stranding is upstream only when the conductor is formed from individual wires in your factory. Coil packing may be a separate off-line operation.

Are drawing, annealing and bunching always required?

No. Suitable prepared solid and purchased ready-stranded conductors can enter the insulation extrusion stage. When you make a stranded conductor from individual wires, bunching or stranding comes before insulation. Add drawing or annealing only if the incoming diameter or condition requires it. Confirm individual-wire diameter, strand count, lay and finished bare-conductor diameter.

Can one line produce BV, BVR and H07V building wire?

Do not assume that one configuration covers every designation. Conductor construction, range, insulation system, voltage designation, output and downstream handling must be reviewed before the operating scope is confirmed.

What insulation materials can the line process?

This page illustrates a single-layer thermoplastic insulation route, with PVC as the example. Compound grade and tooling must be confirmed. Cross-linked materials require a separate curing/process review; THHN/THWN nylon-layer constructions and multi-core sheathed cables need their own route review.

Can one line cover several conductor sizes?

Whether one line can cover several conductor sizes must be confirmed from the approved cable designs, required range and complete equipment configuration.

What testing and coiling equipment is included?

Outside-diameter measurement and spark testing are separate functions. Spark testing takes place on dry insulation; finished-wire tests still follow the applicable product specification. Reel take-up and sale-length coiling are also different operations. Confirm whether coiling, cutting, tying and wrapping are off-line, integrated or manual.

What information is required before quotation?

Provide the cable drawing or finished structure; conductor material; solid or stranded construction; individual-wire diameter and strand count where applicable; finished bare-conductor diameter; finished-product core count; nominal cross-section; insulation compound and target insulated-wire dimensions; rated designation, output, finished handling and factory conditions. Unknown items may remain To be confirmed.

Installation, commissioning and training are proposal-defined services. Scope, responsibilities, site readiness, schedule and exclusions must be confirmed for the project.
