HK-50 Soft Cable & FTTH Drop Cable Production Line
Customized around the cables you plan to produce.
Produce simplex / duplex soft cable and FTTH drop cable on a shared HK-50 extrusion platform. Use HK-30-prepared tight-buffered elements for soft cable, or optical fiber and strength members for drop cable. HONGKAI configures the material paths and changeovers around your product mix.

Configure for the actual cable: product changeovers require the appropriate material path, screws, crossheads, guides and operating recipes. Agree the setup and acceptance conditions for each product.
A shared platform with a defined route for each product.
Start with the cable drawing. It determines which incoming materials and equipment are active, how the product passes through the line and what must change between batches.
Prepare the elements for the selected cable.
Feed fiber, buffered elements, aramid and strength members as required. Use the cage-stranding module only when the selected distribution-cable construction calls for it.
Match compound, screw and crosshead.
Dry and feed the selected material, align the incoming elements and use the tooling appropriate to the product profile.
Stabilize the product and check dimensions.
Coordinate warm-water cooling, the fixed trough, chiller, drying, diameter measurement and the specified marking interface.
Control tension through winding.
Choose the traction path, accumulator settings and take-up package. Define the reel-change sequence and finished-product tests.
Soft cable and FTTH. One configurable platform.
The HK-50 platform can be configured for the following indoor and access cable products. Select the families your factory needs; we define the supplied line and changeover arrangements around that mix.
Simplex / duplex soft cable
Tight-buffered fiber + aramid + jacketUse prepared tight-buffered fiber from the HK-30 stage, add the specified aramid reinforcement and extrude a PVC or LSZH outer jacket. Select the tooling for the single- or twin-element profile.
FTTH drop cable
Optical fiber + strength members + profiled jacketFeed optical fiber and the specified FRP or steel strength members through the drop-cable tooling. A self-supporting variant also needs the approved messenger feed and cable profile.
Starting material: prepared tight-buffered elements for soft cable; supplied optical fiber and the specified strength members for FTTH. HK-30 handles upstream tight buffering. HK-50 forms the finished cable jacket.
Your cable design defines the line.
HK-50 is a custom-configured production line. The two main product routes are reference applications; your technical proposal defines the products, equipment and operating conditions included in your project.

24-position cage-stranding module
Combines the specified incoming elements for the distribution-cable extension of the shared platform. It is not required for every simplex, duplex or FTTH route.
- 24-position source configuration
- 25 / 50 km fiber-reel reference
- Online adjustment of rotation and pitch

Questions before specifying a shared soft-cable / FTTH line.
Review product coverage, changeovers, speed ratings and the scope of the HK-50 reference equipment.
01Can one HK-50 line produce both soft cable and FTTH drop cable?
Yes. The shared extrusion platform can be configured for simplex / duplex soft cable and FTTH drop cable. Switching products requires the relevant incoming materials, pay-off path, guides, crosshead/tooling, tension, cooling and take-up settings. The supplied scope and changeover procedure are agreed for your product mix.
02What is the role of the HK-30 tight-buffering line?
HK-30 applies the tight-buffer layer to supplied coated optical fiber. For the soft-cable route, those prepared buffered elements then feed the HK-50, which adds the specified aramid reinforcement and outer jacket. The FTTH route feeds the approved optical fiber and strength members into the drop-cable extrusion setup.
03Can the line also produce distribution cable?
The reference proposal includes a 24-position cage-stranding module and a 2–24 core distribution-cable option. Include that route only after confirming the cable construction, incoming element packages, stranding requirements, reinforcement, tooling and final equipment scope.
04Does 120 m/min apply to every cable product?
No. The source reference is 120 m/min for 2.0 × 3.0 mm FTTH cable. Soft-cable, other FTTH profiles and distribution-cable speeds are agreed from the construction, compound and required quality. The 150 m/min structural maximum is a separate mechanical rating.
05Are all 16 equipment units active for every product?
No. The equipment schedule describes the shared reference platform. Soft cable, FTTH and any distribution-cable extension use different incoming packages and active material paths. The technical proposal identifies the supplied units and their use for each selected product.
06Is this the same as an outdoor loose-tube cable line?
No. This HK-50 platform is for the specified soft-cable and FTTH extrusion routes. A common outdoor route uses fiber coloring, loose-tube extrusion, SZ stranding where required by the construction, and HK-90 outer sheathing. Equipment selection follows the cable drawing.
07Does a dual-shaft take-up mean fully automatic reel change?
No. Two reel positions, tension feedback and servo traversing do not establish automatic cutting and reel transfer. Agree the operator steps, accumulator use, transfer method and restart sequence in the technical proposal.
08Which testing equipment should be planned with the line?
Agree dimensional and optical checks for production and the mechanical or environmental tests required by your cable specification. Laboratory equipment is planned as a separate scope, including the relevant tensile, crush, impact, bending, torsion or water-penetration tests rather than treating it as part of the take-up or packing station.
